Gillybean Theatre School is theatre group for young people aged from primary one to 21 years in the Lanarkshire area. Gillian Bradshaw, who is a well-known member of the local community, trained dancer and seasoned performer, set up the Theatre School in August 2007.

On being asked why she has decided to start up Gillybean Theatre School, Gillian responded, “Throughout the past 25 years, theatre has played a large part in my life. Every production that I have been involved in from performer to director has brought me great pleasure. It is my hope that through Gillybean Theatre School, I will be able to get local young people involved in something new and fun where they will have the opportunity to learn new skills and perform: it’s also a great way to make new friends!”

The School’s first production was Disney’s High School Musical which was performed to sell out audiences in February 2008.

Since then the School has gone from strength to strength performing shows such as Honk, Bugsy Malone, The Wizard of Oz, Disney’s Aladdin, Camp Rock to name but a few.

In March 2016 Gillybean went back to its routes performing High School Musical at Hamilton College Auditorium. The 78 members of Gillybean who performed on stage were outstanding, cannot wait for the next one!
